The city of Libreville, Gabon, will host, from 14 to 16 November 2018, the 1st Hydrometeorological Forum of Central Africa, under the auspices of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS),In order to work towards a substantial improvement in service delivery, which is essential for development planning and climate resilience.

On this occasion, participants will discuss the importance of hydrometeorology, early warning and disaster risk management for regional integration and sustainable development in Central Africa. In addition, make the link between early warning and early actions of grassroots communities. The forum will serve as a forum for linking regional initiatives and capacity building in support of effective weather, climate, water and early warning services, especially capitalizing on partnerships and the private sector.

The Objectives of this Forum will be to Provide an opportunity for exchange and dialogue with experts and managers in charge of meteorology, hydrology, disaster risk management, health and agriculture in Central Africa;

Review and reflect on capacity building strategies and mechanisms of national meteorological services;

Consolidate public-private partnership – Civil society – Universities in order to strengthen resilience to climate and disasters in the Central African region;

Establish links with regional decision makers, financial institutions and global experts.

The Forum is organized by the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) in partnership with the Government of Gabon, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the World Bank (WB) and the African Development Bank (ADB), with the support of the Climate and Development Program.

It will bring together senior representatives of ECCAS governments and sub regional institutions such as the United Nations, development partners, technical institutions, civil society, the private sector, the media and user groups.

Ten countries will participate in this forum which would have a platform to meet the challenges: Burundi, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, CAR, Rwanda, DRC, Sao Tome Principe, Chad, Angola.
